Malaysian March online recruitment down; retail sector worst hit

MALAYSIA'S online recruitment deteriorated 11 per cent in March from a year ago with the retail sector registering the lowest growth as it contracted by a significant 36 per cent. This was followed by hospitality, which shrank by about half as much amid a persistent economic malaise.
Among occupations that saw the lowest growth according to the Monster Employment Index (MEI) - a gauge of online job posting activities compiled monthly by Monster Malaysia - customer service topped (-58 per cent), followed by hospitality & travel (-30 per cent).
