WITH the financial markets predicting that Britain will vote to remain in the European Union (EU), the sterling rose to its highest point this year and the UK and European stock markets powered ahead.

The catalyst for the jump was the result of a final ComRes poll for Daily Mail and ITV, which put the "Remain" camp at 48 per cent, six percentage points ahead of the "Leave" camp; 11 per cent of the respondents were still undecided.
