Merkel on course for fourth term
But far right party AfD is expected to enter Parliament for first time as polls estimate that it may take 11% of the vote

GERMAN Chancellor Angela Merkel appears set to achieve a fourth term in the coming German elections. Commentators are disturbed, however, that for the first time in numerous decades, the extreme far right will have a presence in Parliament.
Latest polls in September show that Mrs Merkel's centre right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party is well ahead of Martin Schultz's centre left Social Democrat Party (SPD), its nearest rival.
