IT is possible for Singapore to have a non-Chinese as its prime minister, but much will depend on the political situation at that time and whether this leader is able to speak Mandarin to better connect with the people, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said.
"It depends on the person. You must have the right person. You must have the politics worked out, and you must be able to connect with both the Chinese as well as the non-Chinese population."
