Najib confident of country's 'high-income' goal

He sees Malaysian growth at 4.5-5.5% this year, cites successful introduction of GST, points to continued investment in Malaysia

THE Malaysian economy is faring well and Prime Minister Najib Razak on Tuesday reiterated his commitment to ensure the country reaches "high-income status" by 2020.

Speaking at the Economic Society of Singapore's (ESS) annual dinner at the Shangri-la Hotel, he shared how Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 6 per cent in 2014.
