STARTING from Tuesday, a majority of government e-services will require two-factor authentication (2FA) for login and transactions. In addition to the SingPass and password, users will need to enter a one-time password (OTP) sent via SMS or generated through a OneKey token in order to access the e-government service.

The two-step verification process was announced in July last year as part of a security enhancement to the SingPass system. 2FA is a critical component to ensure that users' online identity and transactions are secure.
