New priority areas for research in next five years: DPM Teo

THE government will focus research efforts in the next five years on advanced manufacturing, biomedical sciences, urban solutions and digital technologies, says Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean.
These areas, which he said were chosen based on an assessment of Singapore's strengths and national needs, dovetail with the five economic growth clusters that the government had identified in Budget 2015 - advanced manufacturing, applied health sciences, smart and sustainable urban solutions, logistics and aerospace, and Asian and global financial services - as well as the city- state's ambition to be a Smart Nation.
