THERE will be no changes to safe-management measures (SMMs) in solidarity with healthcare workers, said the Multi-Ministry Taskforce (MTF) in a press statement on Friday (Mar 4).
Healthcare workers remain under significant pressure due to the high number of hospitalised Covid-19 cases, with daily local infection numbers remaining high for the past week. The MTF noted that the streamlined measures are not expected to significantly increase transmission risk or impact the epidemic situation.
The MTF had announced earlier that it would consolidate the changes to streamline SMMs on Feb 24 to be implemented at a later date. This is due to the extensive work in going through the rules across different settings as well as a surge in cases.
The weekly infection rate has dipped below 1 in the past 2 days, which suggests that the current epidemic wave has peaked, the MTF said.
"We will continue to monitor the situation closely with the hope that the situation will soon enable the streamlining of measures to take effect and pave the way for further easing of measures thereafter," said the taskforce.
