Non-PMETs more vulnerable to retrenchment in 2020
Singapore
RETRENCHMENTS in 2020 hit non-professionals, managers, executives and technicians (PMETs) harder, as Covid-19 took a greater toll on industries with many such workers, such as retail trade, accommodation, and food and beverage services.
Contrary to an earlier trend of PMETs forming a rising share of retrenched residents, their share was 61 per cent, down from 74 per cent in 2019, with 10.5 retrenched per 1,000 resident employees.
