NZ consumer confidence ticks up in Q3: Westpac-McDermott Miller survey
[WELLINGTON] Consumer confidence in New Zealand rose slightly in the third quarter, a survey showed on Monday.
The Westpac-McDermott Miller consumer confidence index was 108.0 in the third quarter versus 106.0 in the previous quarter.
A reading above 100 indicates more optimists than pessimists. "Spring is finally here. The weather is warming up. It's sunnier in the mornings. And households are feeling a bit more upbeat. But just a little bit," said Westpac Senior Economist Satish Ranchhod.
According to Mr Ranchhod, while economic conditions are looking positive "there's still an air of nervousness about the economy's trajectory."
