OECD joins IMF in call for increased tax collection in Asia
Tokyo
TAX revenues among Asia's developing economies are increasingly falling short of what is needed to finance infrastructure and other public services, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has warned in a report which calls for stepped-up revenue collection in the region.
The report comes on the heels of a similar caution issued last week by a senior official of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who suggested that Asian governments need to raise taxes if they are to afford the huge investments they need in infrastructure and other public goods.
