Ong joins MAS board
ONG Ye Kung, Acting Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence, has been appointed to the board of directors at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the central bank said on Monday.
Mr Ong's term of appointment will be from Aug 29, 2016, to May 31, 2019. Prior to his Cabinet appointments, Mr Ong was director of group strategy at Keppel Corp, where he oversaw long-term strategic planning of the group's activities. Before joining Keppel Corp, he was the deputy secretary-general of National Trades Union Congress, overseeing the Labour Movement's employment and employability programmes.
Lawrence Wong, Minister for National Development, will be stepping down from the MAS board on Monday. He was appointed to the MAS board on June 10, 2011.
