Optimism of Indonesian consumers rose in January: survey
[JAKARTA] Indonesia's consumers were more optimistic about the economy last month than in December due to an expected improvement in business activity over the next six months and higher incomes, a Bank Indonesia survey showed on Tuesday.
The consumer confidence index was 120.2 in January on a yearly basis, up from 116.5 in December. A reading above 100 indicates that consumers are optimistic.
The survey showed that the price pressure in the next three months was expected to ease in line with the impact from domestic fuel costs cut at the beginning of the year.
