FRESH from the high of helping the People's Action Party (PAP) retain the Bukit Batok seat at last Saturday's by-election, Murali Pillai will be sworn in as Singapore's 89th elected Member of Parliament (MP) when the House sits again on Monday.

The 48-year-old lawyer, armed with a 61.2 per cent mandate from voters, will also hold his first meet-the-people session in the single member constituency (SMC) later in the evening.
