Positive outcome essential at COP26 as planet heats up

ABOUT 100 world leaders and more than 20,000 scientists, diplomats and activists will arrive in the Scottish city of Glasgow at the end of this week for the United Nations' Climate Change Conference, an event better known as COP26.
A positive outcome at the summit is essential. In particular, countries must commit that the average global temperature increase must be limited to 1.5 deg C by 2030, and carbon emissions should be reduced towards zero by 2050.
