A TRANSPORT system that primarily relies on cars is not sustainable in land-scarce Singapore, Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan said on Thursday.
With a million private vehicles on the roads today and 12 per cent of the island's land used for roads, Singapore should follow the examples of other cities that are moving their transportation model away from private cars.
