AT HIS state of the union address on Mar 1, US President Joe Biden vowed to defeat inflation, but it's unclear if he can do so without the Russia-Ukraine conflict dealing him a hammer blow along the way.
"Right now, it really depends on the war - de-escalation or escalation - and more importantly, what happens to the economic war between the West and Russia," said Lorenzo Di Mattia, manager of hedge fund Sibilla Global Fund.
Just over a week after Biden's address, the average US price of petrol has risen by almost 20 per cent to record highs.
