THE Singapore dollar fell back on Monday in thin trading after a brief puzzling rally last Friday when most currencies weakened against the greenback following the release of strong payrolls data in the US.

The SGD was quoted at 1.4045 to one USD at 4.40 pm on Monday, following last Friday's rally to 1.3968, a level not seen since Nov 4. "It's a thin market, it's not reflective of any shift," said Saktiandi Supaat, Maybank Singapore head of foreign-exchange research.
