THE Scots failed to become independent in last year's referendum, but despite that the Scottish National Party (SNP) may well be the power broker after the May 7 UK elections.
According to the polls the two largest parties - the Conservatives and Labour - are neck and neck, each jostling for about a third of the votes. The bookies are favouring 1/5 odds that neither the Tories nor Labour will achieve an adequate majority to form a one-party government.
