SINGAPORE'S Sentosa-Brani Master Plan is the latest mega-project to experience delays from the Covid-19 pandemic, after the first project milestone in the resort island's medium- to long-term transformation blueprint hit a snag with construction, The Business Times has learnt.
A S$90 million linkway between the island's southern beaches and Resorts World Sentosa is now expected to open in 2023, a year later than planned, said a spokesperson for statutory board Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC). He attributed the delay to "the challenges that the construction industry faced as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic".
Longer-term tourism infrastructure plans are still under way. The spokesperson told BT the timeline to open the 30,000 sq m Sentosa Sensoryscape is independent of other phases in the master plan, which will redevelop Sentosa and nearby Pulau Brani in stages, over up to 3 decades.
