Silver Support to pay out S$600 on average each quarter
Singapore
LOWER-INCOME retirees stand to receive an average of S$600 every three months for life under the Silver Support scheme to be rolled out in the first quarter of next year.
Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said that, unlike the Pioneer Generation Package which has provided special recognition to a unique generation among today's elderly Singaporeans, the Silver Support is intended for both today's and tomorrow's needy senior citizens and would be a new and permanent feature of Singapore's social security system.
