Singapore Budget 2018: U-Save rebates adjusted to help offset carbon tax impact

THE government will provide additional U-Save rebates for three years, Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat said on Monday. U-Save refers to household rebates for utilities expenses.
This adjustment is meant to help in offsetting the impact of a carbon tax, at about 1 per cent of total electricity and gas expenses on average.
Eligible HDB households will each receive S$20 more per year, from 2019 to 2021. The annual U-Save from 2019 to 2021 for a one-room or two-room flat dweller will be increased to S$400. The annual U-Save from 2019 to 2021 for those who live in executive flats will be S$240.
