Fortitude Budget: S$100 utilities credit for all households with at least one Singaporean
ALL households with at least one Singaporean will receive a one-off S$100 Solidarity Utilities Credit.
Speaking in Parliament to deliver the Fortitude Budget on Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat said this is to thank all Singaporeans for doing their part in staying home during Singapore's battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The initiative will cover all property types and the money will be credited in the July or August utilities bill.
Mr Heng said Singaporeans have given feedback that while they are saving on transport fares and other charges during the "circuit-breaker" period, they are expected to spend more on their utility bills as they stay home.
This comes on top of an earlier announcement Mr Heng made during Budget 2020, when he said the government would double the amount of U-Save rebates through a one-off GST Voucher - U-Save Special Payment. It was given to all eligible HDB households to help with utilities bills.
Larger households with five or more members are eligible for more rebates, and will save up to S$1,000 this year.
