Singapore firms bullish after news of Sri Lanka FTA

Tariff cuts are high on their wish list; among challenges they face is protectionism by domestic groups

    A DAY after the Singapore-Sri Lanka free trade agreement (FTA) was announced, Singapore businesses said they were bullish about the Sri Lanka market, and expect to benefit considerably from the FTA.

    One area they have high hopes for is tariff reduction - since imported goods sometimes face tariffs of up to 60 to 80 per cent.
