    THE first case of the Zika virus has been reported in Singapore.

    In a joint statement, the Ministry of Health (MOH) and National Environment Agency (NEA) said they were informed of the confirmed case on Friday. The patient is a 48-year-old male Singapore permanent resident who had been in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from March 27 to May 7. On Tuesday, he developed a fever and a rash, and was admitted to Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital on Thursday, where he was isolated.
