Singapore has varied sand sources, says MND in response to M'sia export ban
Singapore
SINGAPORE imports sand from various countries to ensure resilience in its supply, the Ministry of National Development (MND) said in response to a report that Malaysia has banned exports of sea sand - used in land reclamation - since last October.
"The government has also been encouraging the industry to reduce the reliance on sand," added the ministry, which oversees Singapore's sand imports, in response to Reuters queries.
