Singapore to launch S$10m Asean programme to fund cybersecurity efforts

SINGAPORE will launch a S$10 million Asean Cyber Capacity Programme (ACCP) to deepen cybersecurity cooperation and capabilities among Asean member states.

Minister for Communications and Information Yaacob Ibrahim announced the launch of ACCP at the Asean Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity on Tuesday.

He said that the programme will fund various efforts, ranging from paying for resources, expertise and training in cybersecurity to supporting discussion and consultancy work in areas such as the formation of national cybersecurity agencies and even legislation.

"The flexibility of the ACCP funding allows us to channel efforts to where they are most needed and can be most effective."

Dr Yaacob, who is also Minister-in-charge of Cybersecurity, also unveiled CyberGreen, a global initiative that aims to give countries a report card on the state of their cyber health. Singapore, as a founding sponsor of this initiative, will offer Asean countries access to CyberGreen through Singapore for free.
