Singapore non-oil domestic exports grow 4.3% in January

    NON-OIL domestic exports (NODX) grew 4.3 per cent year-on-year in January, the third straight monthly increase. The NODX rose 0.8 per cent in November and 2.3 per cent in December.

    Month on month, the NODX grew a seasonally-adjusted 1.6 per cent after a 0.2 per cent dip in December.

    The electronic NODX continued to rise 5.0 per cent on-year last month, following a 0.4 per cent increase in December - its first turnaround after 28 straight months of decline.

    The non-electronic NODX expanded 4.0 per cent in January, extending the 3.2 per cent jump in December.

    Except for Indonesia and Japan, shipments to all top 10 markets rose in January. The EU, Hong Kong and Japan were the top three contributors to the growth in January.

    Non-oil re-exports jumped 12.7 per cent year-on-year last month, building on the 8.7 per cent growth in December.
