Singapore Parliament dissolved ahead of General Election

THE Singapore Parliament was dissolved on Tuesday afternoon by President Halimah Yacob on the advice of the government, in a move that usually precedes the issuing of the Writ of Election.

Nomination Day and Polling Day of the upcoming General Election shall be within three months of June 23, 2020, President Halimah said in a notice in the Government Gazette that was published at 4.15pm.

The electoral boundaries review committee's report was released on March 13, 2020. Safety measures for holding elections and preliminary guidelines for political campaigning during the Covid-19 pandemic were released in June.
