South Korea's August current account surplus falls to 4-month low

    [SEOUL] South Korea's seasonally adjusted current account surplus declined for a second month in August to US$5.79 billion from a revised US$8.29 billion in July, central bank data showed on Tuesday.

    Exports in August rose 2.2 per cent to a seasonally adjusted US$43.22 billion while imports jumped a far quicker 12.8 per cent to US$35.34 billion, producing a goods account surplus of US$7.9 billion, the Bank of Korea data showed.

    The August current account surplus was the smallest in seasonally adjusted terms seen since April this year.
