Spain's jobless inches higher in February
[MADRID] The number of people in Spain registering as jobless rose by 0.05 per cent in February from a month earlier, or by 2,231 people, leaving 4.15 million people out of work, data from the Labour Ministry showed on Wednesday.
Most of the layoffs were in the agriculture sector, with 14,029 more people out of a job. Unemployment fell in services, by 9,753 people, construction, down by 6,724 people and industry, where 3,994 fewer people were registered as jobless.
In seasonally adjusted terms, registered jobless fell by 21,959 people in February from a month earlier.
The number of people paying in to the social security system rose by 63,355 workers, or 0.37 per cent , from a month earlier, to 17.17 million, the Labour Ministry said.
