SINGAPORE'S interests in nurturing an environment of entrepreneurship through its support of startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are aligned with the strengths of US corporates, and this ultimately overrules the political climate between the United States and the rest of Asia, Dwight Hutchins, chairman of the board of governors of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Singapore, believes.
In an interview with The Business Times, Mr Hutchins, who is also the Asia-Pacific managing director, Strategy Consulting - Consumer for Accenture, said both nations have a strong focus on boosting the Asia-Pacific's technology and cybersecurity sectors. "This partnership has introduced initiatives that have trained over 1,200 government officials across the wider Asean region over the past seven years in trade, environment, health and more, which is demonstrative of the burgeoning relationship between the two nations," said Mr Hutchins, when asked about the state of US-Singapore ties.
