Thai Q3 GDP growth seen close to Q2: finance minister

[BANGKOK] Thailand's economic growth in the current quarter is expected to be close to the rate reported for previous three months, the finance minister said on Monday.

April-June's annual growth was 3.5 per cent, the highest in 13 quarters.

"We believe the third quarter would be the same or slightly higher," Apisak Tantivorawong told a seminar.

Thailand's growth pace has been subdued for years, and exports and domestic demand remain weak. This year, Southeast Asia's second-largest economy has been boosted by government spending and tourism.
