Thai Q4 GDP growth seen at least 2.9% y/y: ministry
[BANGKOK] Thailand's fourth-quarter economic growth is not expected to be lower than the pace in the third quarter, as public investment supports activity, a senior finance ministry said on Thursday. "Q4's growth will definitely not be less than the third quarter's 2.9 per cent ... as the investment budget is higher," Krisada Chinavicharana, director general of the ministry's fiscal policy office, told reporters.
Southeast Asia's second-largest economy expanded 2.9 per cent in July-September on the year and 1.0 per cent on the quarter.
The economy has yet to get back on firm track nearly 18 months after the army seized power to end prolonged political unrest, with exports and domestic demand still weak. Growth last year was just 0.9 per cent.
