There is no abuse of power by PM Lee: Minister Heng

FINANCE Minister Heng Swee Keat, who served as the late Lee Kuan Yew's principal private secretary, said his opinion is that there was no abuse of power by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
"We have heard no evidence of abuse that require deeper enquiry - only aspersions," Mr Heng told Parliament on Tuesday.
He also noted that 38 Oxley Road holds special historical significance.
"What happened in the basement dining room and at Oxley Road is relevant not just for the history of the PAP (People's Action Party). Those years marked a pivotal moment in our nation's history - in fact, they were the start of a series of events that led to independence," says Mr Heng.
"It is therefore right and proper that we consider this history in any decision to demolish or preserve the house, or parts of it."
He also said that what Mr Lee really wants is for Singapore to remain successful beyond his lifetime.
