Three new board members appointed to Singapore Tote Board

THREE new board members have been appointed to the Singapore Totaliser Board, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) announced in a press release on Wednesday.

The appointment of Permanent Secretary (Social and Family Development) Chew Hock Yong took effect from May 1, 2016, while the appointment of Anita Fam and Fang Ai Lian will take effect from June 1, 2016.

At the same time, two of its current board members, Kon Yin Tong and Patrick Lee, will retire from the Board.

Mr Kon, managing partner at Foo Kon Tan Grant Thornton LLP, was also the chairman of the Tote Board Audit Committee during his term.

Mr Lee, executive chairman of Sing Lun Holdings, provided guidance in reviewing grant requests and ensuring the optimisation of funds using his experience on the development of arts and social service sectors, said MOF.

The Tote Board, a statutory board of the MOF, was established on Jan 1, 1988. It receives its funds from gaming surpluses generated by the Singapore Turf Club and Singapore Pools, and from casino entry levies. They channel these funds to grant-making projects that aim to benefit Singapore.

With these changes, the board of Tote Board will have 11 members, including its chairman Moses Lee.
