Tokyo: Stocks open 1.72% lower on Tuesday
TOKYO stocks opened lower on Tuesday after a mixed Wall Street session and falls in European markets, despite reassurance from US President Joe Biden that America’s banking system is sound.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was down 1.72 per cent, or 479.25 points, at 27,353.71 in early trade, while the broader Topix index lost 1.68 per cent, or 33.69 points, to 1,967.30. AFP
