Trump lowers tone on China, remains at odds on North Korea
His summit with China's president is hailed as a success, though strikes on Syria cast a shadow over proceedings

WHILE both the US and Chinese presidents hailed the two-day summit held in Donald Trump's Florida villa a success with wide smiles and warm handshakes in front of the photographers, it gave way to little concrete action and was clouded by US air strikes against Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria.
Though differences on trade were addressed, Mr Trump made it clear he was ready to act unilaterally against North Korea and flex his muscles if need be.
