A LEADING authority on China has suggested that it would be best for US President-elect Donald Trump to tone down on his anti-China rhetoric and be more pragmatic when he enters the White House.
Stephen Roach, formerly chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia and now a senior fellow at Yale University's Jackson Institute of Global Affairs, said at the opening of Morgan Stanley's 15th Annual Asia-Pacific Summit in Singapore: "I think (Trump) definitely will act upon several of the strong positions he's said . . . but I think on China, it's certainly one of these areas in which strong positions will get tempered."
