Umno rift seen widening despite Muhyiddin sending mixed signals

IF Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak had little to say to his former No 2 when he sacked him on Tuesday, former deputy premier Muhyiddin Yassin has also been reticent about why he had put his job on the line by publicly demanding comprehensive answers to what really transpired at controversial state-owned 1MDB.
Mr Muhyiddin, with his wife by his side at his home in the elite suburb of Bukit Damansara on Wednesday, spoke at length to reporters about "party unity" and his responsibilities as deputy president of Umno to help the president - in this case, Mr Najib.
