Uruguay ruling candidate Vazquez wins presidential vote: quick counts
[MONTEVIDEO] Former leader Tabare Vazquez won Uruguay's presidential election runoff vote on Sunday, two unofficial quick counts by the Cifra and Factum polling groups showed.
Cifra projected Mr Vazquez winning 53.5 per cent of votes and centre-right challenger Luis Lacalle Pou with 41.0 per cent. Factum showed Mr Vazquez winning 53.9 per cent of support and Mr Lacalle Pou at 40.6 per cent.
The remaining ballots were blank or spoiled.
