US economy continued to rebound in 2015, says White House report

    THE US economy continued a strong rebound last year, with unemployment falling by half since the depths of the 2008 recession, wages growing and consumer confidence at its highest point in a dozen years, the White House said on Monday. But a slowdown overseas and persistent income inequality at home threaten to sap some of those gains in the years to come.

    The release of the Economic Report of the President was President Barack Obama's latest opportunity to claim credit for dragging the US economy out of the recession and initiating a better-than-expected revival, a direct retort to the dire diagnoses of Republican presidential candidates.
