[WASHINGTON] Democratic leaders announced on Thursday the US House would vote the following day on President Joe Biden's US$3 trillion blueprint to transform transport networks and expand the welfare safety net.
House Democratic leaders had been hoping for a procedural vote on Biden's US$1.75 trillion Build Back Better social spending plan and to rubber-stamp the Senate-passed US$1.2 trillion infrastructure package by Thursday but outstanding differences among lawmakers on the details forced a delay.
"The House will convene at 8.00 am (1200 GMT) for legislative business tomorrow and will take votes on the Senate Amendment to H.R. 3684 - Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Build Back Better Act," a memo from House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer's office said.
