US in total 'solidarity' with Japan over hostage crisis

AS efforts continued on Friday to secure the release of Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, who is being held hostage by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received support from visiting US Under Secretary for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman, who said that the US is in total "solidarity" with Japan over the crisis.
She spoke as Mr Abe told a parliamentary panel that every effort was being made to secure the release of the captive journalist. "We are gathering and analysing information while asking for cooperation from Jordan and other countries, making every effort to free Kenji Goto," he said.
