SINGAPORE'S water industry is set to expand, buoyed by an infusion of S$200 million from the National Research Foundation (NRF) under the Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) 2020 Plan.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, speaking at a dialogue during a ceremony and banquet at the handing out of the biennial Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize and Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize on Monday, said: "Droughts are going to be a problem for us in Singapore; we have to prepare for our own water supply, which for us has always been a strategic and high-priority issue, and we are putting a lot of resources into it.
