    NOTWITHSTANDING its retreat from the peak in recent days, the US dollar's latest rally is underpinned by several factors.

    The reasons for its strength this year have been emerging nation foreign currency debt repayments, a strong American economy, a trade deal with Mexico and a potential agreement with Canada.
