[BEIJING] President Xi Jinping said China must “overcome” the challenges of developing core artificial intelligence (AI) technologies including high-end chips, state media reported Saturday (Apr 26), as Beijing seeks to become a world leader in the rapidly developing industry.
“We must continue to strengthen basic research, focus efforts on overcoming core technologies such as high-end chips and basic software, and build an AI... system that is autonomous, controllable, and capable of coordinated operation,” Xi said at a meeting of the Politburo on Friday, according to state news agency Xinhua.
