FOLLOWING final negotiations over the weekend, China President Xi Jinping is expected to sign an accord with the UK that will give China a sizeable stake in Electricite de France's nuclear power plant project in Hinkley Point, Somerset in south-west England. Besides Hinkley, other nuclear power plant projects involving China could include additions to the Sizewell plant in Suffolk, on the east coast, and a new facility in Bradwell, Essex.
"The two nations will announce sizeable investment and trade deals," Zhang Ji, China Assistant Minister of Commerce, said last week in Beijing.
