A legacy that lives on
Spendor, whose speakers hark back to its BBC roots, offers the thoroughly modern D7. Guitar hero Larry Coryell, meanwhile, shows why he was so highly regarded with Seven Secrets

British loudspeaker manufacturer Spendor was founded in the late 1960s by Spencer and Dorothy Hughes - the "Spen" and "Dor" in the name - and relied initially on Spencer Hughes' expertise as an engineer in the BBC's sound engineering department to manufacture mainly BBC-type monitor speakers such as its classic BC1 and LS 3/5a models.
Over the years, the company's range has grown to cater to a wider variety of musical tastes and today, even though Spendor still makes speakers that hark back to its BBC roots, it does offer more modern designs like today's feature, the D7.
