A sparkling Chinese New Year
JUST weeks after we bade Christmas goodbye, Chinatown was in full swing earlier this month, gearing up for the impending Chinese New Year. The Chinatown bazaar along Temple Street attracted loads of shoppers - local and foreigner - who were intent on soaking up the festive season.
From above, the overhead view of the bazaar appeared to have retained a hint of Christmas, with the street and lights forming the outline of a Christmas tree. This optical illusion, juxtapositioned against traditional Chinese architecture, bore testament to the multi-racialism that defines Singapore.
The centrepiece at Eu Tong Seng Street featured the animal of the year according to the Chinese zodiac.
